In Berlin, distance is often very close: musicians from all continents enrich the city’s cultural scene. For years, the Café Global in the Maison des Cultures du Monde has been presenting dance rhythms from the most remote corners of the world on Fridays and Saturdays until the early hours. The best of these club concerts is now available for the first time – with a focus on the African continent – on this CD. Most of the African musicians heard here have lived in Berlin for a long time: well-established names in the urban music scene, which is particularly lively and creative, not least because of their influence.
