Bilal Berreni was 23 years old. He was passionate about cities around the world, especially abandoned places, buildings in ruins or under threat of demolition. He took inspiration from them, gave them another form of life with his drawings. Bilal, aka Zoo Project was a French street art artist. He painted magnificent frescoes on the walls. Just after the revolution, in 2011, he came to Tunisia and drew some of the Tunisians who fell under bullets during those terrible weeks of January 2011. During the protests, he brought these life-size drawings with him. He said that for him, they were not ghosts but that they were companions in the struggle. Then in 2013, he was the one who fell under a bullet, received in the face, while walking in the streets of Detroit, in the United States. He loved walking the streets of Detroit, especially around ruined houses, abandoned factories and abandoned towers. It was at the foot of one of these towers, slated for demolition, that he was assassinated in June 2013.
